Bestival 2013
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is that time of the year again. The days are getting shorter, the the summer is drawing to a gradual close and the festival season is reaching a merry end. As the annual onset of summer blues begins to kick in, Bestival 2013 comes around to ensure that we can postpone the misery for another few weeks.
From the 5th to the 8th of September, Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight will be taken over by the creative curation of Josie and Rob Da Bank, bringing their string of award-winning boutique festival back for its tenth year.
From the most original boutique campsite experience, to the Bollywood cocktail bar, a ‘Wishing Tree’ stage, fancy dress en mass and even a landlocked port, the creative uniqueness makes Bestival a world of discovery and adventure that will inspire peace, love and dancing all the year round.
Organisers have elected a nautical theme for this year’s party and they have ensured that the line up is one of the most eclectic you will ever experience. Elton John and Snoop Dogg headline the event this year and with the amount of anthems this duo boast, there really is something for everyone.
But that is not all, folks. Franz Ferdinand will be leading the party beforeBombay Bicycle Club take the reigns as they take a break from recording their follow-up to 2011’s ‘A Different Kind of Fix.’
Rockness even caters for all you electronic-lovers out there, with Julio Bashmoreat the top of the bill after a huge 12 months in which single ‘Au Seve’ took residence on dance floors across the globe. The house DJ will be joined this year by the likes of Fatboy Slim, Disclosure and Annie Mac - all ready to set the night alive with their beats and breaks.
Although all of the above indicates the making of a festival with the potential to surpass many of its rivals, there are some other hidden gems on the bill, all set to send the bouncing crowd wild over the weekend.
The hottest property in British music, London Grammar are already garnering rave reviews. They have the sparseness and yearning that the XX do so well, as well as hints of 90’s trip hop supremos Massive Attack. Lead singer Hannah Reid’s dramatic, emotional tones have had people mentioning Florence and Adele. Their first track, Hey Now, came out in December and has already had 300,000 views on SoundCloud. Rockness may be your last chance to enjoy their beautiful tones in a very intimate environment
James Blake, Tom Odell, Jessie Ware, James Blake, and Rudimental are among the other big acts to complete this years bill.
Bestival may be be the festival this year that will be spoken about as the stand-out event of the summer, with a perfect mix of old and new artists, from dance a trance DJ’s to aspiring indie-pop.
Fingers crossed the weather will be kind for the entire weekend of it!
