Awake & Gallo
Awake & Gallo is a band of two from Greece. It was founded in 2009. Behind Awake is John Dimoulas who took his name from the title of a poem he wrote, before the bands foundation. Gallo took his name after the song titled Hallogallo, which can be found in the debut of krautrock legends, Neu! Behind Gallo is Sakis Kasolis. The band, until now, has recorded two albums, In Search Of The Universal Truth in 2010 and Ultra Violence World in 2011. Both albums are under no label and Awake & Gallo have played in front of audience with the help of Lazaros Filis, who "runs" a one man band named Bodies Floating Down The Muddy River. Before the bands foundation Dimoulas has made three recording efforts resulting in three personal albums, a little "amateurishly mixed" but with styles ranging from progressive rock to psychedelic rock and ambient. On the other hand, Kasolis has played in multiple bands and has performed some series of live shows experimenting with different styles. A musician who travels with the old blues while exploring the psychedelic, groovie sounds of the 60s with his guitar as he says. Awake & Gallo mixture styles such as progressive rock, space rock and ambient in an experimental way influenced by the 60s and 70s music scenes of krautrock, psychedelic rock etc. In both their albums Dimoulas and Kasolis write the music together while in the bands second, concept album, there is the addition of Marios Katsanos who plays the keyboards in one track.
Multi-orientated project but also a great actor in contribution of the krautrock revival next to Electric Orange, Magdalena Solis, Nu & Apa Neagra, Metabolismus
