NO MAN’S LAND

Οι No Man’s Land, μια από τις μακροβιότερες και πιο δραστήριες μπάντες της Αθήνας, ξεκίνησαν το ταξίδι τους στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 80 και γρήγορα εδραιώθηκαν στην τοπική σκηνή, ιδιαίτερα χάρη στις μοναδικές ζωντανές εμφανίσεις τους. Ο πρώτος τους δίσκος (Zalion, 1988), εξακολουθεί μέχρι σήμερα να αποτελεί σημείο αναφοράς για τους εραστές της νέο-ψυχεδέλειας. Τα τελευταία χρόνια η μπάντα βρίσκεται και πάλι στο δρόμο, με συνεχείς εμφανίσεις και ηχογραφήσεις, τελευταίο δείγμα των οποίων αποτελεί το album “The Drowning Desert”, που κυκλοφόρησε πέρυσι από την εκλεκτική ανεξάρτητη εταιρεία Anazitisi Records. Στα live που κάνουν αυτό τον καιρό, οι No Man’s Land παρουσιάζουν μια σειρά από καινούρια κομμάτια, από τη νέα τους δουλειά που πρόκειται να κυκλοφορήσει μέσα στο 2012. Ηλεκτρισμένη ατμόσφαιρα, ονειρικά ηχοτοπία, free αυτοσχεδιασμοί, prog αναφορές – και όλα αυτά με σημείο εκκίνησης την «rock τραγουδοποΐα».

NO MAN’S LAND

No Man’s Land is one of Athens, Greece’s most long-lasting and active bands. This mutating musical unit started out in the mid-eighties and soon established itself as one of the highlights of the local scene, mainly due to their electrifying live shows. Their first album Zalion (1988) is a neo-psychedelic gem still much sought-after by connoisseurs. After a hiatus in the nineties, No Man’s Land hit the road once again, playing shows and recording new material. 2008 saw the release of Home in the Sky on the eclectic Athenian label Anazitisi Records. The immediate follow-up was a self-titled, limited edition, vinyl only album with two extended tracks. Their latest is called The Drowning Desert and consists of five medium to extended length tracks, in which the band members explore the boundaries between psychedelia, prog, free jazz and wherever else their hearts and minds happen to lead them. NML’s sound conjures vistas of shimmering beauty, nightscapes at once soothing and foreboding, and a sense of ongoing motion – always within the context of actual songs. Currently, the band is working on material for their new album, which is expected to be released before the end of the year.
